Napoleon Bonaparte is said to have made only a single gift to his newborn son Napoleon II, nicknamed “L’Aiglon”: a black candle from Cire Trudon decorated with his likeness in gold.
The French wax maker is the oldest in the world. It supplied the court at Versailles, and today its customers include luxury labels such as Guerlain, Dior, and Hermès.
Its secret recipe for plant-based wax is free of paraffin and other harmful chemicals. This gives the candles their delicately melting texture and their unusually long burning time.
